What is a unicorn whiskey? These are rare and allocated whiskies that are highly sought after by enthusiasts and collectors. While many of these bottles are opened and consumed, many are also traded or sold for hundreds or even thousands of dollars over retail.
As part of our “Bourbon at the Barn” fundraiser, Healthy Beginnings will be hosting an exclusive raffle for the opportunity to win one of these rare and allocated whiskies. Each attendee will receive a raffle entry with admission.
Winners will be drawn and announced the night of the event.
(Must be 21+ to participate. We cannot ship- you must be able to pick-up or arrange for pick-up).
Additional Raffle tickets can be purchased for $10 each, through:
- online, below;
- at the Healthy Beginnings office;
- or at the event.
Tasting Notes
The bourbon marks the birthday of the distillery’s founder, George Gavin Brown, and is released on his birthday, September 2. First released in 2002, previous versions of the bourbon have won numerous spirits awards. The bourbon is also popular with collectors.
12yr 90.4 proof.
Van Winkle Special Reserve is the perfect combination of age and proof. This sweet, full-bodied whiskey has been described by some as “nectar.” The 12 years of aging and medium proof seem to be just right in creating a very pleasant drink of whiskey. This fine bourbon can compete with any excellent cognac as an after-dinner drink. The overall impression is rich and deep.
